the art of cath williams

Cath self-identifies proudly as an aging artist whose concerns relate to how as rational beings we can co-operate to collectively manage how we live and care for each other and our environment. Cath’s primary artistic expression is through the use of colour and texture, is to capture the random, chaotic and fragile world we as humans are privileged to inhabit.

What influences does Cath draw on?

After 27 years in Australia Cath was influenced by the ever present threat of fire and the rugged beauty of the coast and mountains around Victoria.

Returning home created a predictable response, as the greens and softer hazy hues, came to the fore in her work.

Cath maintains her connection with her two homes and continues to find a surprising degree of commonality in her landscapes many of which are indistinguishable regards their origins, both being impacted upon by the relationships with the owners of the land, diversity, politics and climate change.
